Cruising the Inside Passage

June 25, 2015

The second sea day of the cruise was travelling through the Inside Passage. This is a really beautiful area and one of my personal favorite places to have a sea day since there is always something to see. As long as the waters are cooperative the ship can actually go directly through the passage with great views of islands and land on both sides of the ship, but if you want to make sure you see the most land throughout the cruise the best side of the ship would be the left or port side for southbound cruises, and the right or starboard side for northbound cruises. The wonderful thing about the Radiance, however, is that there are so many places on the ship to look out over the side that you don’t have to have a balcony to fully enjoy the views. However, if you are going to splurge on a cabin with a balcony an Alaska cruise would be one of the best times to go for it.

The Inside Passage is incredibly scenic with a number of untouched islands and some islands with beautiful houses right on the water. There is also a chance to see whales, porpoises, and other marine life near the ship, although this isn’t extremely common and we were not lucky enough to see anything on this trip.
