The Caipirinha is the national drink of Brazil and is a very popular and simple cocktail. The original recipe was medicinal and composed of lemon, garlic, honey, and local spirits. The modern Caipirinha, on the other hand, is made of only three ingredients; sugarcane liqueur, lime, and sugar. While sugarcane liqueur is becoming more widely available, rum or vodka can be substituted if necessary.

  • Half a lime
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1.5 oz Cachaca (sugarcane liqueur)

Muddle the lime and sugar in an old fashioned glass. Top with ice and the Cachaca
